[Frequently Asked Questions]

1) When is the album coming out?

Hopefully early 2008. I'm back home in the studio right now so the simple answer is, as soon as the album is finished. The EP raised the bar somewhat so I want it to be as good as I can possibly make it...I'm not going to rush something out that I'm not happy with.

2) Can I get a copy of that Prodigy cover you played live?

Not yet. Hopefully it will be on the album subject to getting the samples cleared. This takes time and costs money.

3) Where can I get that Dirty Grrrls, Dirty Boys track from?

It's a remix we did for a band called Faderhead. I think we are looking at early 2008 as well for a release. It's a remix so it's down to Sami and his label when it gets released, but everyone is keen to see it out there as the response we've had from people has been amazing.

4) When are you playing live again/coming back to XXXXXX?

Not until the album comes out now. We didn't expect the EP to be as successful as it has become, and we didn't expect to be touring quite as extensively as we have this year. We've been on the road nearly 3 months since April so that's not left a lot of time to work on the album and that is something that I really need to do because it will be nearly a year from the Skullfuck EP coming out and the album being released.

Once the album is out we'll be arranging a big tour again. We are sorting out a booking agent at the moment so once that is finalised I'll let people know, from that point he'll be the point of contact if you want to arrange a booking. So we'll be hitting the US and Europe again as soon as the album is out there. :)

5) What equipment do you use in the studio/live?

Live we were running soft synths on our laptops, either on Ableton live (me) or Cubase (Gabe).  Vanguard or Pro53 as those two are pretty much all I use for lead parts.  Then the backing was either run from Ableton or later in the tour, an iPod Nano due to us having problems with the laptop due to the amounts of bass we were pumping out causing the hard drive to jump/glitch, the iPod Nano is solid state so it isn't affected by vibration/resonating etc.  In a lot of venues the bass bins are right under the stage so you can imagine what it's doing to the laptop if my eyeballs are vibrating with the bass!  A couple of gigs I used my Xiosynth onboard sounds because of problems with the laptop...either heat, vibration, accidentally kicking it or pulling the USB cable out etc etc, so I programmed some similar patches to what I use on the laptop just in case as a backup.   On a tour like that you have to pretty much assume that things will go wrong and try and have a backup.

In the studio I use Cubase SX3 on a PC, Battery 2, Vanguard, Pro 53, V-Station (or my Xiosynth...the two are effectively the same thing), FM7, pretty rarely Absynth, a lovely drum synth called Microtonic and a few sample CD's.  There isn't masses of outboard...I have some, a cheap compressor and multieffects units but tbh I haven't plugged them in in months.

6) Where can I buy your music?

Modulate CD's are available from the following (and other quality stockists of electronic/industrial music):

North America:
Sistinas Records
Metropolis
COP International
Crunchpod
CD Baby
Storming the Base (CAN)

Europe:
Infacted Recordings (DE)
Infrarot (DE)
Out Of Line (DE)

Diskpol (ESP)

Rest of World:
GUP (AUS)

7) What is Dystopia? / Can I have a copy of Dystopia?

Dystopia was an EP released before we were signed to help pay for equipment for our live show. It is now sold out. This was a strictly limited edition of 70 copies. Once we signed the record deals we could no longer sell our own pressings. Nor will I burn copies/put it up for download...please don't ask.

8) Will there be any tracks from Dystopia on the album?

Probably Revolution, Skullfuck and Faktory, but they will be reworked and remixed versions for the full album.
